Sebastian Black, C L E A R I N G Gallery
Andrea says: "Sebastian's paintings toe a charged line between abstraction and figuration. At first his 'Puppy Paintings' (which was a series touted by the Opening Ceremony crew) seem like just a depiction a sad, sleepy pooch, and then you start to realize his sophisticated play with color field and composition. For me, I start to see a torso, most often female, with breasts, arms and sometimes legs, but there's also a sense that each of the forms has its own sub-narrative or contained world. He has a show up right now at in Brooklyn that I can't wait to check out."
Sebastian can be seen at C L E A R I N G in Brooklyn, and also in a group show at Marlborough Chelsea currently on.
