Xaviera Simmons, David Castillo Gallery

Andrea says: "Though I didn't know she was a practicing artist at the time, Xaviera and I actually went to Bard College together; She was in one of my art history classes. I later learned that she went on to the fantastic Whitney ISP program while simultaneously training as an actress. I was excited when her name started to pop up in conversations and I started to see her work around the city and beyond. She has a multidisciplinary practice that includes photos, installations, videos, performances and audio pieces. She’s able to build these extremely powerful narratives without losing a sense of play."

Xaviera Simmons can be seen at the Studio Museum in Harlem and The Sculpture Center, or at an upcoming solo show at David Castillo.
