We finally have the time to do our bi-annual showroom hopping, and it was with great delight that we checked out Spurr's latest fall delivery. We dug the 2001: A Space Odyssey-inspired collection when we saw it last month, but it wasn't until we got a little one-on-one time with designer Simon Spurr that we fully appreciated the details that make this collection special. And speaking of details, Spurr's weekend bags made us wish we had better weekend places to go. Other items that made us question how essential it is to pay next month's rent? The slim-cut puffer jacket with removable sleeves, a waxed cotton suit that brings to mind high-concept designers like Raf Simons at Jil Sander (with hand-stitched detailing), and a tan cotton coat based on a motorcycle jacket design that the designer himself sported as he walked us through the collection.
