Last week, Beyoncé dropped an epic bomb (in a good way) when she released her new, self-titled "visual album" on iTunes. Now, Queen Bey is slowly rolling out the accompanying videos, and "XO" is the roller-coaster blast of fun we hoped for. What a ride.
"Come Down To Us"
Last week, we shared the title track from dubstep impresario Burial's new EP, Rival Dealer, but the true highlight is the 13-minute "Come Down To Us." Featuring a quote from transgender filmmaker Lana Wachowski, the song is a potent and emotional plea for understanding and acceptance.
Matthew Dear feat. Tegan and Sara
Well, this was unexpected. Moody electronic mainstay Matthew Dear and sisterly pop duo Tegan and Sara have joined forces to cover the Tears For Fears classic "Pale Shelter." The result is an effervescent re-imagining of the goth-pop masterpiece that morphs into a dance-floor whirlwind.
"A Tribe Called Red"
After a Twitter tirade this morning, up-and-coming rapper Angel Haze dropped her new album Dirty Gold straight to SoundCloud against her label's wishes. If you want to help him out, there's a fundraising page you can donate to right here.
Before striking out on his own, Dornik drummed for Jessie Ware, and the two certainly share a similar pop sensibility. "Rebound" is Dornik's latest single, with an electro-funk tinge that recalls Prince (or any number of '80s pop artists, for that matter).
