How To Dress Down A Retro Frock For A Comfy Cali Weekend

StreetStyleWeb When you live close to the beach, bright colors are the norm. There’s a lot of tropical inspiration that comes from living in a place with 75-degree days, coastal breezes, and tall, skinny palm trees, like L.A. But lately, even L.A. has adopted the Spring '13 minimalist, black-and-white trend.

And I admit, as much as I personally love color, some things are just better in black and white. They're easy to style and still make a statement. Also, they are two incredibly flattering colors in their own right. Black is slimming while white makes you look ultra tan. Why didn't the Angelenos give this a shot sooner?

I also love that you can sport the trend, while looking chic with just an oversized, white T-shirt and a pair of black, distressed jeans. Or you can go all out and incorporate mixed prints in the black and white variety, which is my personal fave. I love how this beautiful L.A. girl dressed down her midi polka dot dress with a pair of casual white sneakers. So effortlessly cool and perfect for running around the city that's miles and miles long.
