Okay, this may come as a surprise, but yours truly — whose favorite thing to wear is dresses with statement jewelry — used to be a soccer player. I know, who knew? While it's not my most favorite activity, playing sports has always been an important part of my life.
I spent 11 years playing soccer, coached a youth team, ran on the track-and-field team in high school, and won third place for long jump my sophomore year. While it's been many years since I've run around the ol' high-school tracks, I do run regularly on The Strand in Hermosa Beach.
And, if I’m going to get sweaty, I better be doing it with some style, which is why I go to T.J.Maxx since it has everything I need for my workout. I think it’s important to incorporate some fun colors to offset the otherwise strenuous activity, which is why if you look in my drawer, you'll only find neon-colored sports bras. Today, I'm going for a bright coral one paired with a soft pink tee.
When shopping for a sports bra, you want to make sure the fabric, in addition to the band, will provide enough support. To check, take your hand and push it inside the cup to stretch it out. If you can see your fingers, then it won't be supportive enough. Also, look for one that is made out of a breathable fabric otherwise you'll be more prone to back and chest breakouts.
For my bottoms, I'm wearing cropped running pants that are made with moisture-wicking fabric to keep my skin as dry as possible. This is so soft, it feels like a second layer of skin.
I'm also bringing along some jump rope. Heidi Klum swears by jump roping, and now I do, too! Plus, it's an easy way to get your heart rate going and tone up.
