Who’s Your Musical Style Muse?

Back in middle school, the one thing that got me through eighth-period math was knowing that if I rushed home in time, I could catch an episode of Carson Daly-era TRL. Aside from those incredible photo-booth candids, I dug seeing what my favorite artists were wearing. Whatever Britney, Xtina, Gwen, or Mandy had on — be it in their now-legendary videos or live studio interviews — I was determined to copy it. And, yes, my OG style icons still spark the not-so-occasional nostalgia-twinged YouTube binge and Halloween-costume ode... I'll always be inspired by musicians' inherently no-effs-given, rule-breaking sense of fashion. From Gwen Stefani's blue-hued hair and fuzzy bikini top days to FKA twigs' more contemporary flair for the unexpected, there are some standout women in the music space who are more than deserving of the "fashion icon" title.
