The Right Way To Wear Black & Yellow, Black & Yellow

montreal-street-style
We like to stray from the notion that we can't wear certain colors together. Blue and black? Bring it. Red and pink? Yes, please. And right in that same category: black and yellow, a combination that's familiar around the bee hive, if not anywhere else. However, Ruth Jean Baptiste, photographed on the streets of Montreal, not only demonstrates how to pull it off, but also makes us feel courageous enough to embrace the combo for ourselves.
Keeping her yellow pullover on the pastel side helps soften the contrast between the two shades, as does the mix of a silky, flowing skirt and a chunky, heavy knit. Baptiste also uses other clever accents to tie the look together, including a floral collar and a bold, red lip. Overall, this street-style look further proves that there are no rules when it comes to fashion. (Anna Dello Russo would be so proud.)
