Heavy-Metal, Rose-Gold Monochrome? Yes.

As enthusiasts about bold beauty choices, we're suckers for colorful makeup combos. Red lips with shimmery eyes? Hell, yes. Cobalt liner with coral cheeks? Absolutely. And yet, sometimes there’s nothing chicer than rocking one signature shade for effortless sophistication. Enter: monochromatic makeup.
It's a trend we’ve been seeing everywhere, from runways to red carpets, since the '90s. So, why do we keep coming back to it? We tapped pro makeup artist James Vincent to find out.
“Monochromatic makeup is an easy way to make modern makeup work for any skin tone or any occasion," he says. "Basic color theory tells us that a one-color look will always work. But, with the colors and textures available today, a monochromatic look can be anything but basic."
Lately, Vincent has been into playing with heavier metallic hues to create sultry, current takes on the matchy-matchy look. “Warm, metal tones such as bronze and rose gold work extremely well on eyes, lips and cheeks,” he tells us. Ahead, take note of his must-have (and incredibly versatile) products for creating this stunning, rose-gold visage. And, if what's pictured here is a little too heavy on the metal for you, don’t worry — you can go as subtle as you like.
