Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Et Al Get Paid £1 To Walk In The Olympics

A plane ticket to London? A few hundred dollars. A 2012 Olympic Summer Games T-shirt? $20. Hiring world-famous models for the night? A lot less than you might think.
Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Georgia May Jagger, Lily Cole, Stella Tennant, and Lily Donaldson will all be participating in the Olympic closing ceremonies in London this summer as part of a runway show displaying the best of British fashion. But, who knew hiring a slew of gorgeous gals could be as cheap as a knickknack from the dollar store? With supermodels typically commanding high fees, their payout for the multi-million dollar spectacular is absolutely astonishing: Each girl will only receive one British pound ($1.56 at current exchange rate).

The ceremony, entitled "A Symphony of British Music", will include music performed by George Michael, Queen, One Direction, Tinie Tempah, and loads more of U.K. talent, but what we're dying to see is what the models will wear. With the runway vets and soon-to-be household names wafting down the runway in designs by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Vivienne Westwood, these gals might steal the thunder from the world's top athletes without even having to throw a javelin.
Jessie J and Russell Brand will also grace the stage, but the one British beauty we'll miss is none other than Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. According to the Telegraph, she pulled out of the celebration to continue her focus on acting. Sure, the paltry payout wouldn't be enough to buy a hot dog from a New York street cart, but who would ever want to miss a party like this? (Telegraph)
