Poolside Beauty Treatments? Here's A Whole Week Of 'Em!

If you're like us, sometimes staying in is WAY more fun than going out (yes, even in Miami!). Well, here's your excuse to go all out with an element of vegging. For their first annual Beauty Week, Canyon Ranch Hotel & Spa will host seven days of complimentary facials, poolside scalp treatments and more — including nutritional lectures, to keep your insides as glowing as your outer parts! (Okay, so they had us at "complimentary" and "poolside," but we're sticking around for the Moroccan oil treatments and professional tips and secrets.) While you can't just roll up and get a pedi, you can reserve a room and enjoy the experience pro bono. Think of it as a staycation with a focus on nutrition and gettin' gorgeous! Then you can go out (we wouldn't blame you), because you'll probably be feeling so great!

3 Juice Cleanses That Won’t Drive You Bananas
The holidays were months ago, but there are still some gifts we’d like to return. In fact, the average American is still carrying four to six of them (or two to three, if you're metric), somewhere around the waistline. Which might explain why spring is the most popular season for juice cleansing — it's like rinsing your body and giving it a "spring cleaning" of its own. There’s a lot of discussion over the efficacy of a juice cleanse, but that hasn’t stopped millions of folks from turning to a week of bottled produce. Until recently, one result was virtually guaranteed: crankiness. For most folks, a day without solid food is like a day without, well, food. That’s why we checked out these programs, which offer more than just bottles of green and the vague promise of health. We can’t guarantee you’ll turn into Gisele, but you’ll sure be less likely to get in a screaming fight with your roommate’s cat. That’s not a good look on anyone.

Senior Citizens On Plastic Surgery: 77% Say Yes!
Not just for moms and aunts anymore (and, um, this little girl), plastic surgery is becoming more and more of a multi-generational family affair. A new study shows a whopping 77 percent of seniors (senior citizens, that is; we're not talking unusual high school graduation presents) in America would go under the knife for a more fierce physique.
One 73 year young Florida woman interviewed says she'd love to have a little eye work done (wouldn't we all?), but fears the risks involved. That means no lunchtime lipo, as procedures are a bit more complicated due to skin elasticity and thickness and other pre-existing health probs. Unlike your average surgery shopper, elderly patients require a little more time than just popping in for a quick nip/tuck. Despite the risks involved, popular procedures among the older set include facelifts, liposuction, eyelid surgery, and breast augmentations and lifts. We get it — it's a jungle out there. Some seniors are choosing to have work done to appear more youthful in workforces dominated by the young(er) generations, while others say they feel young on the inside and simply want their outward appearance to match. And why shouldn't they, as long as they're cleared for (face)lift-off? We say, you go, gran! (Local 10)

Miami's Poshest New Gym Is Good For Your Body (And Soul)
It's the end of January and some of us haven't exactly adhered to our New Year's resolutions. But why dwell on your momentary lapse when you should be focusing on the return of Body and Soul. Yep, one of Miami's most popular gyms is back. As stated on its website, the new B and S is "bigger, better, and stronger" and the staff is ready to "rock your body and move your soul." One look at their schedule and we knew they weren't kidding about rocking and moving—we spotted high-octane sounding classes like Boom Boom Box, Alexa's Street Jam, and Videosync. While you're grooving and shaking your way into shape make sure to stop by one of their spinning classes, grab a smoothie, or snag a little something to show off your new curves at their in-house boutique, Tina B. Ahh, don't you feel better (and sore) already?

La La Anthony: Reality Star, Basketball Wife, & Now…Makeup Mogul
On her reality show, La La’s Full Court Life, we all see that La La Anthony lives a pretty hectic life. Well, apparently she managed to find at least a little bit of free time amidst all the craziness. Actually, more than just a little bit — enough time to work on her very own makeup line. The former MTV personality announced yesterday that she's teamed up with her good friend, Loren Ridinger (senior vice president of Market America/SHOP.com), to create a collection of beauty products dubbed Motives for La La. And while Ridinger already has her own wildly popular cosmetics line, La La’s will be different because it’s a collection of mineral-based lipsticks, blushes, and eyeshadows created especially for African-American and Latino skin tones.
The real-life basketball wife will introduce her new venture next month during Market America’s 2012 World Conference, taking place in Miami. Historically, this conference has been attended by about 25,000 people, which makes us think La La’s new business could be a great fallback plan, you know, just in case her husband's whole basketball dream doesn't work out.

Pencil This In: 12 2012 Openings You Don’t Want To Miss

We’ve been talking and writing about it for weeks now. The year 2012 is finally here! We’re only three days deep, but we can tell the future is bright. How so? First of all, H&M is coming to Lincoln Road and Wynwood gets a full-blown nightclub. Yeah, seriously. And wait until you see the rest of the names on our list of 12 openings scheduled for 2012. It’ll blow you away — and fill up your calendar, too.
1. SLS Hotel
Scheduled to open in early 2012, just next to the Delano, is the swanky SLS hotel. International super chef José Andrés' West Terrace Bistro and his first-ever food truck join The Bazaar, SAAM, and Katsuya as they all journey east from the SLS Beverly Hills to Miami. Also moving in is famous L.A. hotspot Hyde, which will be making its East Coast debut as Hyde Beach. We’re not done yet. There’s also a Philippe Starck-designed salon and blow out bar. Excited?
2. H&M
As reported by WWD in April 2011, European retailer Hennes & Mauritz (aka H&M) is finally making its long-awaited move to the Magic City. Expect to be shopping their latest designer collab collection in Aventura Mall and on Lincoln Road. They’re said to be taking up 22,000 square feet at the Lincoln Theatre.
3. Louis Vuitton
Aventura Mall hits the big time with this luxury neighbor. Expect an impressive grand staircase that connects two floors, where the fashion house's full range of leather goods, RTW, shoes, accessories, watches, and jewelry will be available.
4. Juvia
The 1111 has brought glamour to garages and given us a block of charming shops to peruse while we enjoy the Shake Shack’s exclusive-to-Miami key lime concrete. Now, the stunning Herzog & de Meuron-designed landmark tops it off with a penthouse restaurant complete with an indoor, lush vertical garden and a rooftop lounge with city and water views. The menu will be as delightful as the space, serving a blend of cuisines from Asia and South America, using classic French techniques.
5. Dior Homme
The Design District continues to heat up as a luxury shopping destination. Women's Wear Daily reported, the opening of a temporary Dior Homme store in the fall at 150 NE 40th Street and a permanent shop coming in 2014 (located at 161 NE 40th Street).
6. Agent Provocateur
The British lingerie shop known for its racy ads is bringing their sexy offerings to The Village of Merrick Park. Ha, and you thought Coral Gables was a prude.

Wink, Wink: A New Eyelash Bar Opens In South Miami
Newly opened lash bar Blink can help you out with that. The cozy South Miami salon opened last month offering only two services: eyelash extensions and brow shaping. Eyebrows can be waxed, tweezed, or threaded for $20 to $35, while the lashes will set you back a bit more. For the flasies, you can either go with the Signature (natural), the Diva (full, but not too much), or the Glam (à la Kim Kardashian). Prices range from $150-$200 and the look will last up to three weeks. If you’re hooked, keep 'em up with bi-monthly maintenance for $50 to $75 — which may be a good investment considering what you may be able to get for free, in exchange.
When: Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: 5804 Sunset Drive; 305-665-1717
