Mara Hoffman's Newest Swim Collection Is Perfect For A Mayan Beach Rave

Come hell or high water we're getting our paws on Mara Hoffman's 2012 swim collection. While it was only yesterday that we were oohing and ahhing over the designer's collab with Soludos, can you really blame us for being so Hoffman-obsessed? Her graphic patterns and unexpected shapes put basic bikinis to shame. Plus, Hoffman isn't partial to just swimwear, she also creates some of the most fun fashion this side of the Mississippi. International influences (Hoffman cites Mexico as one of her fave places to pick up design cues) meet easy-to-wear bikinis and strappy two-pieces, giving her die-hard fans plenty of oceanside garb to choose from. Peep her latest lookbook and bear witness to the best beach-to-bar dresses and one adorable romper that's a cute alternative to been-there-done-that cover-ups. Now, who's ready for some Miami heat?

Must Peep: A Bauble Lookbook Inspired By MIA's Art Deco Past

We're always mucho flattered when designers get inspired by our stomping grounds, especially brands with international pedigrees. First, the British were grooving on our glorious beaches when Julia Smith debuted that oh-so-chic, eco-friendly blazer, and then Charlotte Olympia gave our toes the tropical treatment. What can we say? We're iconic!

Now getting into the MIA-inspired action is French brand Reminiscence. The bauble maker is channeling our bright neon lights and outstanding shores with a collection entirely composed of statement-making baubles. Loaded with oversized pearls, Technicolor rhinestones, and eye-catching gems, we think the line does a pretty decent job depicting our snazzy city. Peruse these alluring Art Deco snaps from the brand's lookbook and we think you'll agree!

U.K. Style Plus Peruvian Craftsmanship Equals One Hot Miami Brand

Okay, pull out your maps for this one: Pitusa's beachy basics come from the mind of a London-raised designer, are rendered in colorful, fair-trade fabrics from Peru, and claim residence here in Miami. This means, if you were counting, Pitusa can cite its origin in three continents, but designer Clara Lago has chosen the 305 for the main base of her line's operations. With bright, warm weather-ready separates and maxi-dresses, the line possesses a bevy of influences, from London street-style to Peruvian-inspired "kimonos."

The young ingenue (Clara is only 24) sent us over her most recent lookbook, which trades in Miami sun for a dramatically dark and foreboding sky. Against the gray and stormy backdrop, each of her colorful pieces get an extra pop (though, not like they needed it, with all the neon and DayGlo detailing, already). These Armani Shades Will Make You A Movie Star (Or At Least Look Like One)

Sunglasses are the apex of cool, which might be why we love them so much in the 305. (Well, that, and perhaps the blinding, blazing sun...) And nothing says a summer more than than a rockin' tan and a pair of super luxe shades, which is why Giorgio Armani's ultra-iconic editorial is making us glad the rain is finally slowing.

Whether you're shielding the glare of flashing lights (paparazzi anyone?) or hiding those morning-after eyes, Armani's freshly launched retro-inspired shades are the modern take on a classic summer essential. Taking cues from the French New Wave classic La Nouvelle Vague, the cinematic lookbook images capture the enduring class of Armani's Frames of Life. With timeless key hole shapes and dark, round frames (plus that Armani touch of luxury), we're sure you'll make a spectacle wherever you decide to jet-set this summer!

Free People's New Collection Makes Us Dream Of Steamy Miami Nights

You know, for all of the unnaturally endowed women and over-the-top homerun fountains this city has, when real style arrives in Miami, it looks g-o-o-d. Like, girls with Latina/urban/bohemian influences sitting beachside good. Like, strolling down Collins with your best guy good. Like, the crocheted and pastel-hued Free People summer musts we've been fairly in love with for most of our adult lives good.

So we love this "day-in-the-life" glimpse of Miami that the Free People May catalogue has featured, which seems to start during an afternoon by the water and evolves into a girls' night on the town. And the 305 homage is not-so-subtle, with a model wearing an "I Heart South Beach" trucker hat (no, they're not back) and two gals perched next to a peach-colored convertible outside of Avalon. While there is certainly an element of hot pink, retro-fueled '80s extravagance for which our city has become synonymous, Free People's spread has a very now-feeling spin, especially with the maxi dresses and woven wedges. Is Miami having a possible fashion capital renaissance? (We say: Um, duh.)

This Stylish New Beachwear Line Has Built-In SPF

alex-koture-main Sometimes sun protection isn’t so stylish. Sure, you can sit under an umbrella looking as chic as you wish, but we all know that’s not going to happen the entire time you’re at the beach. And then, of course, sloshing sunscreen on yourself every hour isn’t necessarily the most convenient way to protect your skin either. But, alas, we live in Miami and something needs to be done to make sure we all don’t turn into wrinkly leather messes when we grow old and gray. Fortunately, we been hearing buzz about a new, stylish line of sun-protective resortwear hitting the beach scene, and while we may have a little past style judgment when it comes to "sun proof" gear, we were pleasantly surprised.

Created by Town & Country’s Creative Director Alexandra Kotur and partner Tiffany Moller, Parasol is debuting flattering and lightweight Italian knit pieces that protect against 98% of the sun’s damaging rays. With sensitive skin in mind, the line was created with zero chemical coatings and is available for both women and girls (you can match!) for prices ranging from $95 to $295. The collection has everything from swim shirts to dresses, mini skirts and sarongs, all with crisp, classic shapes, colors, and patterns. With summer right around the corner (and don't forget Mother’s Day), we’re looking forward to tryin’ out this new line for our next boat/beach/pool day.

Zimmermann's New Swim Campaign Is Making Us Actually Sweat

Swimsuits in the summertime usually remind you of everything beachy, bright, and tropical. However in Zimmermann’s latest lookbook, our favorite Aussie swim brand reminds us that there's nothing cutesy in looking drop-dead sizzlin'. Ditching the beach for more of a sweat-lodge-meets-locker room look, the resort '12 offerings feature one of the steamiest (both literally and figuratively) swimsuit campaigns out this season.

Shot by fellow Aussie Simon Lekias, Zimmermann mixes things up with romantic floral prints, gorgeous shapes and, in line with the post-game inspiration, tennis shoes. Channeling an ‘80’s athletic vibe Grace Jones might have loved, models slouch and slink with slicked-back hair, showing off the Zimmermann suits against steamy tile floors in a low side light, each suffering from the most glamourous of heat strokes. Positively overflowing with sensuality, the slippery bronzed skin and steamy air feel almost NSFW when paired with Zimmermann's low-slung bikinis and the girls' parted-lip pouts. A gorgeous pale pink floral print adorned with ruffles and a fierce snakeskin print one-shoulder bandeau headline the list as our favorites from the collection. With the world turning Zimmermann's way as Australian Fashion Week nears, the brand has chosen the right time to really turn up the heat.

YES: The Webster For Target Is Here And We're Giving It Away!

Okay, let's get serious: Playing favorites isn't our forte, but our love for The Webster isn't some sort of fleeting spring fling. Some might even say that in the fast-paced world of shops du jour, The Webster has captured our fickle hearts. So, when Target announced its "The Shops At Target" partnership with The Webster (along with retailers like Privet House and Cos Bar), we were part "no duh" and part shaking with anticipation.

The lookbook debuted today, with pieces co-created by Laure Heriard Dubreuil and hold onto your flamingo-prints — the looks are great. With more citrus than Emergen-C and bold, colorblocked separates, the entire range embodies the cheeky youth of the store and the city in which its based. Highlights include the two-piece bikinis which harken back to "Magic City"-style glamour and the playful mix of mints and corals. All the offerings are perfect for the Miami native, with a stock of set staples to roll from the office, to cocktails, to the beach. In short, it's a tremendous amount of fun.

Speaking of fun, we've got a massive treat for readers. Laure shared with us one of her favorite pieces, the palm-printed (and we do love palm print) straw beach bag made for toting all your beach-y essentials. Not only are we giving it away to readers, but we are choosing 50 (yes, you read that right) luckies to take home the tote. All you have to do is sign up for our totally tropical Miami newsletter between now and Monday at 5 p.m, and we'll choose half-a-hundred winners from the mix. And the flamingo keychain? All yours.

Joe Fresh Goes Neon With 'Miami Vice' Inspiration

Leave it up to enormously cool Ellen Von Unwerth (remember those super sultry and scandalous Guess ads for Claudia Schiffer?) to present a corporate Canadian brand in the most flirtatious, fun, and fashion-forward way possible.

In a new Joe Fresh collaboration, Von Unwerth channels Miami Vice with a feminine twist for a short film titled "Miami Vixens". In the video, a seemingly innocent lady duo befriends a fellow vacationer at an old Miami motel, only to end up robbing him of all his sartorial necessities, and then highjacking his car in what unfolds as the sexiest low-profile missions ever to grace the fashion advertising world. Apart from the girls’ mischievous nature, the film certainly adds spunk to the brand’s image, as the clothes (and the gorgeous Miami backdrop), play a noticeable and integral part to the film’s quirky character through stylistic touches — think color-blocking, bold prints, and oversized accessories. We wouldn’t expect anything less from Von Unwerth, and we are flattered that Magic City made the cut. Now, if we could only figure out how to look THAT cool when hosting our next pool party...

This Homegrown Bikini Line Is Seriously Making Us Regret That Cupcake

Well, maybe not regret per se, but the ocean-ready suits at least force us to start taking workout routines seriously. Miami's very own Peixoto has just released its second ever swimwear collection, emphasizing some gorgeous silhouettes (bandage tops that don't look like they are trying too hard? Yes please!) in totally wearable colors. The theme of spring '12 is "Such Is Life In The Tropics," using peekaboo prints and solid, and, of course, tropical combinations to keep things bright and clean. Triangle-shaped tops are sensual without being revealing, and the naturally inspired monarch orange and forest greens are ready for everyday play. And, if you definitely don't want to ditch your post-lunch sweets, or if bikinis just aren't your thing, no worries; Peixoto has some amazing one-pieces, too.

Oh, and Peixoto shows hometown love—the suits hit South Florida shops like Twisted Sisters and The Dressing Room next week (or can be found online if you're not feeling mobile). Nothing like instant gratification...Kinda like that cupcake. Photos: Courtesy of Peixoto Swimwear
