Because we really can't get enough of the yee-haw-inducing fun that is a county fair, we're announcing the kick-off of yet another one today! This time, you'll find all the fun up north at the five-day-strong Marin County Fair. While there won't be an Ugliest Dog Contest (à la the Sonoma-Marin fair last week), there are some similarly awesome going-ons including the 3rd Annual Baby Derby in which infants will try to out-crawl one another, an artsy short-film festival, sustainable gardening demos, lots of food contests, performances by The Pointer Sisters and The Temptations, Shangri-La Chinese acrobats, and numerous folks from the storied Star Wars costuming club The 501st Legion, who will be ready to strike a pose with visitors. And, of course, this being July 4th weekend, expect pretty fireworks, as well.
