Tell us more about your ballet background.
"I started in Moscow, where I was born. I did rhythmic gymnastics and figure skating from age 4 to 10, and then I took exams at the Bolshoi Ballet school and got in, which was a really big deal, and I studied there for eight years. Then, I won an apprenticeship at Royal Ballet in London. I worked in London for five years, and now I’m in San Francisco. It’s my sixth season with the San Francisco Ballet, so that’s the long story, short!"
