Where To Celebrate
1. The Alibi — Grab your beads and head to a crawfish boil — there are $5 hurricanes, NOLA-style music, king cake, and po' boys.
The Alibi, 218 Espanola Way; 305-674-3448.
2. Fish House — Make an appearance at Tuesday night's Mardi Gras party and Zydeco Festival to get your fill of beads, crawfish, and, yes, more king cake.
Fish House, 10000 SW 56 Street; 305-595-8453
3. Hogzillas — How much do you love crawfish? Enough to win an eating contest? Hogzillas is not only letting you get competitive with the craw, they are also bringing the heat. If seafood isn't your thing, get in on their annual hot sauce challenge. Oh, and ladies, you'll be drinking for free compliments of the house (from 9 to 11 p.m.).
Hogzillas, 1555 Washington Avenue; 305-538-7201
4. Bourbon Steak — Nothing compares to Cafe du Monde's beignets aka bits of heaven. We'll give you a minute to silently appreciate them. While we can't bring the famed New Orleans institution here, the good news is you can treat yourself to some almost as good alternatives at Bourbon Steak.
Bourbon Steak, 19999 W Country Club Drive; 786-279-6600.
