When it comes to voluminous hair, the sheer number of options can make us feel overwhelmed and confused. This is where we come in. Below, a breakdown of the three key products you need for serious volume.

We talked to industry expert and celebrity hairstylist Harry Josh about creating texture, body, volume, and movement — because nothing’s worse than attempting to achieve Victoria’s Secret waves and ending up with hair like the girl in The Ring.

Thickening Spray
According to Josh, sprays that claim to thicken hair are “great for women with fine to medium-textured hair (or even thicker hair if you really need the extra hold). The spray is applied to the hair pre-blowdry to help amp up a blowout and help the style achieve extra shape. It basically allows you to develop extra definition, so the hair reacts better to holding the shape." He recommends Bumble and bumble Thickening Spray.

Dry Shampoo
It's no stylist's secret that dry shampoo has been taking the hair-care world by storm. It's a serious product, gaining some real cred. Josh thinks it's “amazing on all hair types." When it's applied to dry hair, it sucks up oil and extends life to hair that was washed and styled yesterday or the day before...or the day before that.

It also helps add lift, specifically at the roots. Josh specifically recommends it for "women with finer hair, as other styling products sometimes can leave a residue which can make hair look greasy." Klorane’s dry shampoo is a good option, but Josh suggests testing out the formula on a patch of hair before using it all over, as some formulas are known to read white on dark hair.

Dry Texturizing Spray
Another product that's applied to dry hair, texturing sprays help hair achieve body and a messy, lived-in texture. Josh says: "Think models-off-duty or that sexy bed head. It’s a great tool, again, for women with finer hair to get body and texture for hair that otherwise looks limp, straight and boring. My favorite is from Serge Normant.”

Want to create body in your hair without that sticky feeling? Want to ensure your style will last all day AND all night? Arm yourself with one or more of the products listed above and you'll be well on your way to achieving voluminous, gorgeous, textured hair.
