Makeup Artist Dick Page Calls Bleached Brows "Horseshit" And Debuts A New Eye Look

Bleached brows may have had a resurgence at the spring 2011 shows (and were spotted more recently at Valentino's couture show and this week at Jason Wu), but in general, brows are staying put for Fall 2011. Case in point: At Narciso Rodriguez, Shiseido Artistic Director Dick Page created a "scruffy," purple smokey eye with a defined brow. When asked his opinion on the bleached look, he answered, "I think it's horseshit! It seems to be a lazy shorthand for cool, but really, it erases the face." He created the show's sketched on, scruffy eye using to two new cream shadows from Shiseido's forthcoming collection. Page lined the eyes first in Purple Dawn, a gold-tinged purple, then layered on Caviar, a black shadow with hints of green, and blended for a cool, diffused look. The finishing touch was a greasy "black eye" effect, achieved by adding a bit of Shiseido Benefiance Full Correct Lip Treatment around the eyes. Page used his own photography as inspiration for the 12 new Shimmering Cream Eye Color collection (available in August)—he dumped real caviar into his tub, started snapping pics, and the shade Caviar was born.
