As much as we gripe about the pitfalls of our fair city (freeway fatigue, anyone?), we truly do relish in every minute spent on our SoCal stomping grounds. Sometimes, we even pinch ourselves to make sure we aren’t in a dream-like daze. After all, we're pretty lucky to live in an place that’s constantly sun-soaked and popping with cool peeps, astonishing architecture, and elusive events.

Well, apparently the people over at VMAN get it, too. They’re honoring lovely Lala, and including some mayj L.A. movers and shakers in a 36-page “diary,” shot by renowned American photographer Bruce Weber. Oh, and Elizabeth Taylor’s granddaughter, Naomi Wilding, subbed in as fashion editor, styling the feature. Cool collab, no?

We’ve got first dibs on some of the enticing imagery of the attractive guys and gals galavanting ‘round, and are giving you a glance at what’s in store for the newsstand, come May 17. Have a look at the Cali-cool snaps that involve everyone from Revenge’s Joshua Brown and Lange Foundation's Gillian Lange to a sweet mix of surfers, skaters, models, and more. Doutzen Kroes On Why Being An Angel Is Just As Awesome As You Think

60S_280x335 Okay, so we’re not ones for taking sides, but we do have to say that when it comes to Dutch model Doutzen Kroes — she steals our vote as one of the top knockouts in the biz. Don’t get us wrong, we’re big fans of the whole Victoria's Secret clan, but there is something about Doutzen that we definitely dig. So, when VS held its 7th annual “What Is Sexy?” event and Doutzen hosted — we were over the moon. The “What Is Sexy?” list highlights talent across all spectrums, from sexiest sense of humor (Emma Stone) to sexiest tweeter (Kristen Bell).

And that’s not all. Victoria’s Secret has released a brand-spankin’-new bra, aptly called the Knockout, to coincide with the event. We caught up with the flaxen-haired beauty, who if you ask us, is a gleaming example of the initiative, to talk about her fave L.A. workout spots, traveling, and staying sexy.

What do you think is sexy for L.A. ladies this summer? Any trends you love for West Coast gals vs. the East?
"I love to wear really flowy dresses when I am in L.A., while in NYC I tend to wear a lot of black."

You were able to regain your flat tummy so quickly after pregnancy. Any words of advice for mommies-to-be?
"Breast feeding really worked for me. I also think working out will definitely help. Plus, it gives you a little time to yourself. My eating habits are pretty healthy, too."

What’s your favorite outdoor activity, and what's the ideal L.A. spot for it?
"I love working out hard at Equinox. Plus, whenever I'm in town, I go for a good hike."

How do you manage to keep your hair so healthy?
"I use a hair mask every so often and coconut oil on my ends."

How would you compare the new Knockout bra to other brassieres?
"I love that it is wireless and so comfortable, but it still gives you the best lift"

What do you love most about being a Victoria’s Secret Angel?
"We travel to the most beautiful locations in the world, stay in gorgeous hotels, visit stunning beaches, and work with the best hair stylists, makeup artists, and photographers in the world."

They're Ba-ack! Vena Cava's Designers Dish On EVERYTHING

vena-cava

If you haven't heard much on the Vena Cava front lately, it's because Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock have been toiling under the radar for the past couple seasons — and their efforts culminated in some Big News announcements earlier this month. The indie sweethearts are relocating to L.A. and partnering up with big hitters LF USA in the next phase of their brand's design life.

What does that mean? It definitely doesn't mean selling out or watering down the Vena Cava vibe we've grown such affections for. We sat down with the VC ladies to talk about the team-up and what's in store for them (and you!) in upcoming months and years.

Tell us how the partnership came together.
Sophie: "It all happened very naturally but very quickly. We reached a point where we realized that in order to take the brand where we wanted it to go, we needed a strategic partner to help with the back-end. We were sick of getting caught up in logistics and wanted to spend more time on the product and on being creative. LF reached out to us. It was a strange psychic thing and everything fell into place."

Why do you think they're the best partners for you to work with right now?
Lisa: "We've been working with LF now for a few months, and it's far beyond what we had thought it might be. They're experts at sourcing, tech design, fabrication, manufacturing, and many other things that can be extremely difficult for a small brand to get a handle on. But at the same time, they understand that we're the experts when it comes to our brand and our customer, and are totally open to letting us continue to do awesome and weird branding projects like our online garage sale, non-fashion-persons' Fashion's Night Out, zines and anything else that helps our brand maintain its 'personal-ness.'"

Tell Us Your Wildest Adventure Abroad & Score $500 In Vacay Wear

Greylin designer Dora Lim knows a thing or two about globe-trotting, and channeling her travels into something exceptionally fashionable. She grew up in Brazil, sneaking away from her school work to peer into the production process at her parents' manufacturing business. And when she was seven, she put some of that leftover fabric from their operation to good use, and made her first scarf.

The exotic designer dabbled in other avenues for a bit (like any other typical teen, Dora rebelled against her upbringing), but then finally followed her calling, landing at our very own fashion incubator, FIDM. While plotting her new line, she discovered she was preggers, and thought the name Greylin befitting of her soon-to-be-born baby girl. Well, a boy was more what God had in store, so she gave the name to her career baby instead!

With fans like Blake Lively and Ashley Greene, her easy breezy vacation-worthy silhouettes and acidic prints are clearly fit for any glamour gal. So, naturally, she reached out to R29 to offer our stylish readers a chance at $500 to put toward her spring collection. Since the goods were inspired by tropical locales and foreign destinations, we're asking you to tell us about your wildest adventure abroad in the comments below — we'll pick a winner at random on Friday. So, click through this sweet slideshow, and start making your wish list!

The Vena Cava Girls Have News To Combat Your Monday Blues

vena-cava-main Rumors have circulated left and right about our beloved brand Vena Cava, and we've been wondering what's up with its fashionable future for a while now. Well, after much buzzy build-up, some news has finally broken, and we're thrilled to hear it!

It looks like the lovely L.A. natives and CFDA darlings Sophie Buhai and Lisa Mayock will be relocating to their hometown for a partnership with LF USA, which also houses lines for Rachel Zoe, Ellen Tracy, Keds Apparel, Sofia Vergara, and Daisy Fuentes.

We've got a few sneak peeks at the line here, but we're sure the duo has so much more up their poshly printed sleeves — and fans like Natalie Portman, Emma Watson, and Maggie Gyllenhaal are surely wishing them (in heartfelt unison with us) a, "Welcome back, baby!"

Say What: Jane Aldridge's 'Rents Fork Over Major Moolah For Footwear

jane We’ve all been there (at some point), begrudgingly borrowing from the ‘rents to make it through the week. Sigh. But, even with adult allowances on the rise, we’re a tad perplexed at the thought of a parent lending their offspring $70,000 to start a blog (that's upwards of a year of college tuition). Well, that’s about how much Jane Aldridge’s parents forked over to help catapult Sea of Shoes to what it is today.

Don’t get us wrong, we frequent the site and gawk at the glossy images of covetable steppers on the reg. But between the fancy footwear (the blog’s main selling point) and a makeover to reflect her “online life” — the fam has dropped oodles of dough, and we can't pretend it didn't give us a moment's pause. Sure, building a brand is no walk in the park — and it takes more than stellar business acumen and wide-eyed wonderment to make magic happen. But where do parents draw the line?

Pretty Painful: Snow White's Costumes Are No Fairy Tale

Lily-Collins-300x400 Any little girl who grew up glued to the tube, feeding her imagination with pretty Disney damsels, would consider it a dream come true to play Snow White — especially with a big ol' budget to do that "fairest of them all" regalia right. But then, the cold, hard reality of costuming sets in: Corsets were mandatory underpinnings in that vague "once upon a time" period, and these bad boys can inflict some serious pain.

Mirror Mirror star Lily Collins sucked it up (and in) for her role as the raven-haired bird charmer, and it gave her a whole new perspective on pain: "After four months of wearing corsets and ball gowns, sword-fighting in these crazy forests, I promised myself I’d never complain about wearing high heels again." We really do have it pretty easy, don't we?

Based on the stunning film stills, the phrase "beauty is pain" was clearly hard at work here, and we can't wait to see Lily's (and Julia Roberts') looks in full cinematic glory this Friday!

Important Quandary: Would You Buy Undies Out Of A Vending Machine?

meundiesvendingmachine Looks like stale Cheetos and Snickers aren't the only things popping out of vending machines these days! Testing out their cheeky (no pun intended) new concept at our fave innovation station, Confederacy, MeUndies now delivers skivvies straight out of a cafeteria-style container. No, really.

Whether you're a boxers, briefs, granny panty, or G-string peep, with just a few touches of a button, you can now pick up the unmentionables of your choosing, and in sleekly wrapped packaging to boot. Seriously, there will be no more excuses for dirty underpants, from here on out — not that there ever were, really — since these intimates-peddling contraptions will be exploding at gyms, hotels, and airports all over the place!

But let's discuss. Is this weird, or totally useful? Or both? We're kinda sitting on the fence, here...
