Star Search: A First Look at April 77's Celestial Spring Line

France's indie darlings April 77 have hitched their wagon to a star for the spring/summer '09 season, and it's paid off with some heavenly offerings. The collection, titled "The Apollo Program Was A Hoax" after a song by the Swedish punk band Refused, is a nod to the twined obsessions with futurism and space travel seen in the 1950s and '60s. Filled with astral imagery on graphic shirts for her and him, oversized outerwear selections ranging from trenches to parkas, and colorful loose pants, the lookbook has a spooky, other-worldly and extraterrestrial feel to it. Fascination with the final frontier is a trend we've been noticing of late, but April 77's cool duds outshine those others like a supernova.
