Novel Idea: Little Dom’s New Offerings Straight From Old-School Cookbooks

Sure, we love those fancy plates that rival the sculptures at LACMA, but sometimes the best meals are of the traditional and old-school variety. Give us two slabs of bread, American cheese, a bit of butter, and we'll create the World's Greatest Grilled Cheese (at least our kid sister dubbed it as such!).
Well, the fine folks at Little Dom's are temporarily taking their menu back in time with some inspiration from a rare eBay find. Chef Brandon Boudet’s favorite cookbook series, In Bocca, was printed in the late '70s and early '80s, and can now only be found in antique shops and grandma's kitchen. After snatching it up online, Boudet's decided to dust off the out-of-print tome for a special dining series centered around the recipes from Milan. Talk about two things we can't get enough of — vintage treasures and delicious ingredients!

Dishes include croquettes with spinach, ricotta, egg, and nutmeg, saffron risotto, and chicken legs stuffed with prosciutto and sage. The authentic Italian fare will be paired with appropriate vino, courtesy of the restaurant's wine director Susan Brink. Prepare to say arrivederci to that diet for just one night!

When: Every Thursday, now through February 28, 5:30 to 11 p.m.

Where: Little Dom's, 2128 Hillhurst Avenue (near Avocado Street); 323-661-0055.
