A Better Way To Do Nude Makeup

We've noticed a little trend among our readers here at R29: You guys love your nude eye palettes. And, even though a certain product on the market has captured everyone's attention, a newbie hit Net-A-Porter today that's worth a second glance. (And, perhaps, a hefty amount of your next paycheck.)
Le Métier de Beauté is a cult brand, favored by Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus shoppers, that's best known for its ultra moisturizing lipsticks and luxe packaging. This deluxe eye palette, however, commands special attention — it's heavy, it's about the size of an iPad, and it houses eight shadows that beg the word "delicious."

The palette has a good mix of strategic mattes (cream and a taupe-y brown), juxtaposed with finely-milled shimmer that you can build for a more intense look. And, while it has the usual hues native to nude palettes — gold, pink, bronze, and peach — there are also a couple of pleasant surprises for the color-craving among us. For instance, Fire Lily — the delightful marriage of cranberry and pink — looks insanely elegant layered as an accent atop traditional metallics. And, there's a gunmetal plum called Bordeaux that would escalate you to Kate Moss levels of sexy when added to the outer corners of an otherwise muted shadow look.
But, it's the color payoff that makes this product worth mentioning — you can build these shades for a foiled effect, or you can sheer them out with a fluffier brush for a barely-there look. The best part is that there's just so much product. So, instead of tiny little rows, where the espresso and the carbon black tend to disappear into oblivion after a couple of quick months, you get a luxurious helping of metallic goodness. It almost makes that hefty price tag worth a thought. Consider it the ultimate gift for the makeup-obsessed — or even a holiday treat for yourself.
Le Métier de Beauté Fashion Eye Collection Palette, $125, available at Net-A-Porter.
