L.A. Legend: Grauman’s Chinese Theater Gets New Owners

Of all the iconic buildings in Los Angeles, perhaps the most memorable Hollywood landmark is Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. Not only has this theater been home to premieres for the likes of George Lucas and Cecil B. DeMille, but also it’s also home to the famous courtyard that contains the hand and footprints of every important cinematic star from Bob Hope to Graucho Marx. The theater has gone through many hands since original owners Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. and Mary Pickford opened it in 1927, and today it was announced that movie producers Don Kushner (Tron: Legacy) and entrepreneur Elie Samaha (Battlefield Earth) will become the new owners of the legendary location. We certainly hope they don’t change too much about the beloved landmark—not only is it an incredibly popular tourist attraction, but is a real historical icon of L.A. cinema culture. (DHD)
