Tell us about your ballet background.
"Ballet Hispanico on NYC's Upper West Side is the foundation of my dance training. I strictly studied ballet for two years prior to San Francisco Ballet at Studio Maestro (now Manhattan Youth Ballet) under Francois Perron and Deborah Wingert, among others. My private ballet training was with Charla Genn prior to my acceptance into the SFB school's highest level. I became a trainee the following year, and was hired into the company as an apprentice the next year."
What are some common ballerina stereotypes you'd like to put to rest?
"The ballet world is not submerged with snobby dancers with eating disorders, vicious competitiveness, or heavy drugs. The majority of us are very self and health conscious, but that just makes us egotistical...joking!"
