Designer Kristen Lee & friends make accessories the main event at their new Los Angeles boutique. By Nicole Schlomann

For shoe and handbag designer Kristen Lee, style is all about how you accessorize. It seems she has the right formula—her line of cool-girl, slightly retro-inspired heels has been wildly popular since its debut in 2004. Following the success of her own collection, Lee has sallied forth into retail territory, debuting an expertly curated boutique of her own this week in Los Angeles. Called TenOverSix, with a store name and décor inspired by Alice in Wonderland, the shop is a treasure trove of vintage, limited-edition, and up-and-coming designer add-ons.

While most boutiques only reserve a small corner for jewelry and handbags, TenOverSix is completely devoted to leaving out the ready-to-wear and focusing on those amazing finishing pieces. And who better than a shoe designer to pioneer this fantastic concept? While Lee is already at work whipping up a house-brand shoe label, she's also handpicked designs from the likes of Tashkent, Subversive, and Whitley Kros. In an awe-inspiring boutique such as this, where hanging bags claim an entire wall and shoes beckon from a crooked collage of chairs, it's easy to rediscover the art of the accessory.

TenOverSix, 7420 Beverly Blvd., Los Angeles, 323-330-9355.
