Just Opened: Yoko Devereaux

Now there is another reason for Brooklyn gents to keep their menswear needs close to home. "It's the perfect time to open up the shop," says Yoko Devereaux creative director, Andy Salzer of his very own store that opened doors this January. "Yoko Devereaux is now carried in almost 70 locations around the world, so the brand is really building momentum." Foregoing Manhattan in favor of the "other" borough was an obvious choice. "The brand began in Williamsburg, and has always taken inspiration from the area's more modern interpretation of fashion's convergence with art and music scenes," says Salzer.

The interior of the store is inspired by the offbeat nature of the local surroundings and incorporates vintage wallpaper treatments alongside an entire wall that will be backlit and feature images of past t-shirt collaboration designs—the Yoko Devereaux line has always embraced such partnerships and Salzer's stock will reflect this, including products developed with friends such as In God We Trust jewelry and actor Alan Cummings' own fragrance and bath line, "Cumming." "The shop will relay that Yoko Devereaux is more of a lifestyle than just a clothing line," says Salzer. Underlining this statement is the inclusion of housewares among the shop's other wares, and upcoming events they have planned, including an exhibition by photographer Alex Freund and a book signing by author Ethan Brown. With so much going on, rest assured there will still be room for plenty of classic suits, blazers, shirts, and hoodies the Yoko customer has come to know and love.
