John Derian & Astier De Villatte Are Sailing Us To Provincetown

We often find ourselves curious about what goes into naming a scent. It seems like a pretty daunting task — how could you possibly describe such an assorted medley of fragrant oils and spices with just one word? But, if there ever was a candle we could smell without even taking a whiff, it'd be this one, aptly called Provincetown.
These ceramic cups of goodness are the result of a collaboration between R29-fave New York-based designer John Derian — whose trove is always filled with delightful little treasures — and French tablewear company Astier de Villatte.

Inspired by sand dunes, beach grass, ocean mist, and berries, these candles are as pure as they look. In fact, there's not a touch of paraffin or other petrochemicals. Instead, hints of star anise fruit, basil, Texan cedar, eucalyptus, ginger, and peppermint were used to yield a perfume that transports us to a heavenly, albeit slightly windy world.
Yes, we can already sense the fresh, seaside air of the New England town, and it feels good. But, if for some reason you're not yet there with us, all you've got to do is pick these babies up at John Derian, where they retail for $83 to $185. Then, run home and light them up with a match, sit back, and breathe in. We'll meet you in Cape Cod.
