WHAT: Another Year
WHY: The British are always good for a laugh, (just ask Madge! Or Gwynnie!) but the rich characters in Mike Leigh's glimpse at a year in the life of a happily married, middle-aged couple, and the follies of their neighbors and friends, adds a poignancy that makes this movie more of a must than Paltrow's upcoming album. We know, we know, independents are supposed to depress you with stories about drugs, suicide, and general Debbie-downer gloominess, but open your mind to this touching, low-key Brit gem...you won't regret it! Besides, ever since Moulin Rouge, we've had a thing for Jim Broadbent. Call it weird, but oh, the things an accent can do!
