I DIY! Style Blogger Sabrina's Rodarte-Inspired Sweater
New column alert! And it's recession-friendly to boot! We've got some of the best style bloggers to share their latest DIY style ideas, step by step, dollar by dollar. For our inaugural story, Sabrina from Professionally Trendy shares her tips for shagging up an old sweater.

Inspiration: Dread sweaters such as the ones featured at Rodarte for fall/winter '09 and the Elizabeth & James dread cardigan.
Materials used: Carpet/drape trim from a fabric store; spare sweater
Total cost of materials: $15 for the trim
Total time: 2-3 hours
How To According to Sabrina:

1. Measure the desired length of the trim by wrapping it over your shoulder. Cut four or five identical pieces for each shoulder, and begin pinning them in place row by row. This works best if you have someone helping you pin while you are wearing the sweater. I started by the collar and worked my way to the sleeves.
2. Try on the sweater to see if you like the way the tassels drape, and then make any adjustments as you see fit. Then loosely sew them in by hand and remove the pins.
3. Match the placement of the tassels on the other side. I did this by eye.
4. When sewing the rows of tassels in place with the machine, make sure to run over the ends a few times to prevent fraying.
5. That's it!
