1. Tiger Balm. Logan Kroeber (drummer): "Tiger Balm is a Chinese Herbal Internal Pain Reliever. When I'm playing drums on tour, after awhile my body, especially my arms, hurt like hell. This stuff makes me feel real good. The other guys hate it when I put it on around them because it smells like crap, but if definitely does the trick!"
2. Cracker Barrel.: Meric Long (singer, guitarist): "No matter where you go around the right side of the country, you'll find one of these restaurants. It's a good feeling that you can count on finding one of these, and that it's always the same, no matter which one you go to. It certainly pleases our gluttonous sides, and they have fun games to play while you wait for your feast."
3. Bushmills Irish Whiskey.: Logan: "When we were recently in New York City, we did a promotional spot where they gave us a ton of Bushmills to take with us on the road. Not that we party in the van, but whenever we are at a show at a venue that stiffs us on the alcohol, or we want to start a spontaneous afterparty, we have this supply. It'll be a sad, sad day when it runs out."
4. Princeton Record Exchange.: Joe Haener (touring multi-instrumentalist): "We played a show at Princeton University, and I've always been told about the almighty Record Exchange. It's tucked away on a side street off the main strip in town, and you walk in and you are in vinyl heaven. They have a ton of rare stuff and plenty of cheap records to add to your collection. Seriously, the trip to the store kept us so happy that now our touring van is that much heavier as a result. At least we have something to look forward to when we get back to San Francisco."
4. Montreal.: Meric: "This city has always treated us very well. The shows are always some of the best on the entire trip. I can't think of a friendlier city of people—especially the girls. It gets even better in the summer!"
The Dodos' new album, Visiter, is out now.
