Patrick Daughters

Director

1. Miniature Donkeys. "What's not to love?"

2. Dinu Iipatti. "He was a late Romanian pianist who died in the early '50s of leukemia as he was reaching his prime. He played with a perfect balance of emotion and restraint."

3. Perfect espresso. "Yet another fleeting thing of great beauty."

4. Rope-soled slippers with socks. "Gives you something akin to that bare-feet-on-carpet feeling all day long."

5. Doing masculine bro-handshakes with girls. "Start with the arm-wrestling hand clutch and improvise from there. Feels kind of awkward and weird in a good way."

6. Olafur Eliasson. "I like to rigorously critique art on the basis of how cool it is. And his stuff is super cool."

7. Eating like a samurai. "My friend told me samurai never used to eat more than the size of their fist. Keeps you from getting food coma. Fortunately for me my hands are enormous."

8. The Art of the Ghost Dog. "Not the movie but the art of leaving a get-together unnoticed without having to say goodbye to anyone. Easy when there are 10 or more people. Try doing it when there are three or less. Now that takes a lot of skill."

Patrick Daughters has directed music videos for artists including Beck, Feist, Interpol, and Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs. He currently working on a feature film, an adaptation of the T.C. Boyle short story, After the Plague. To see his work, go to www.thedirectorsbureau.com.
