Star Struck: Romance, Intrigue, Money—Your October Horoscopes!
Poor Mercury retrograde gets such a bad buzz. Let's face it; it's lousy for making major purchases (especially Mercury ruled computers and cars) or launching important projects (like the Bailout Plan or Presidential debates; God help us). On the other hand, it works for taking care of old business. Mercury is currently in elegant Libra, the sign of relationships, beauty, and art, so it's perfect for hooking up with ex-lovers, scoring at vintage shops, or selling those art deco lamps on eBay. Just don't be so eager to see it move forward on the 15th—in early November life gets intense, so you might as well enjoy the downtime.
LIBRA September 23 - October 23
The combination of Mercury retro in Libra and Venus in your money house inspires you to take control of your life and your finances, and suddenly everything falls into place. The full moon on the 14th brings a hot new romance or fires up a current one, and once Venus enters your witty 3rd house (on the 18th) you're ready to start a literary salon like the Algonquin Round Table or complete your memoir.
SCORPIO October 24 - November 21
Cosmic lovers, Venus and Mars, are both in Scorpio so you're pretty much invincible this month. Enjoy the attention and the power, but don't get distracted. The whole direction of your life can change in early November, so start focusing on what you really want and don't leave it to chance. The Scorpio new moon on the 28th is your starting gate; grab the reins (and a whip) and don't stop till you hit the finish line.
SAGITTARIUS November 22 - December 21
Fellow Sadge Keith Richards came up with the guitar riff for "Satisfaction" in his sleep; he woke up, recorded it on a cassette player, and fell back to sleep. With the activity in your 12th house of dreams, you may discover your next big thing while snoozing or meditating. Just make sure you have a notebook nearby. When Venus enters Sadge on the 18th you attract someone special to be in cahoots with.
CAPRICORN December 22 - January 19
Caps have a reputation for being loners, but audacious Jupiter in your sign has polished your social skills to a high sheen. Just in time. Your 11th house of networking plays host to Mars and Venus this month plus the Scorpio new moon on the 28th. People you meet now transform your world professionally and personally. That's right—You don't have to do it alone anymore.
AQUARIUS January 20 - February 18
On November 4th your two rulers Saturn and Uranus face off, but you're already feeling the tension as old fears about money and possessions rise up like water behind the levee. Oh, there will be changes, even losses, but you'll finally be able to break those invisible chains so you can reinvent yourself. Until then, be patient, cut back on the $6 lattes, and don't forget to exhale.
PISCES February 19 - March 20
Magnetic Venus in your public 10th house (from the 18th) puts you in the spotlight; you finally get the professional respect you deserve and even score some juicy perks. The new moon on the 28th in your visionary 9th house brings a charismatic teacher or guru. Scientology? Kabbalah? It's so last lifetime. If you really want to know the meaning of life, read J. D. Salinger's classic Franny and Zooey.
ARIES March 21 - April 19
The great racing driver Barney Oldfield was once asked why he got into accidents while driving in traffic. He replied that he couldn't think clearly when traveling less than 100 miles per hour. Aries think best when accelerating, and your ruler, Mars, is brilliantly positioned for financial gain on the 10th, 27th, and 31st. Move fast, and while everyone else is watching the polls and the Dow you'll come out a winner.
TAURUS April 20 - May 20
Recently, executives at KFC moved Colonel Sander's famous recipe of 11 herbs and spices to a secret location. Don't get all CSI, but until Mercury turns direct on the 15th, you need to guard important projects and papers at work; spies are everywhere. There's nothing secret about your love life; the lusty new moon on the 28th brings a smoking hot romance; no extra spices necessary.
GEMINI May 21 - June 21
With your ruler, Mercury, retrograde in your creative and romantic 5th house it's no wonder projects and playmates have stalled. Watch Fellini's masterpiece 8 ½ to learn more about creative blocks and love triangles. Don't bother to rent his other classic, La Dolce Vita; once Mercury moves forward (on the 15th) and sexy Venus enters your 7th house of love (on the 18th) you'll be living it!
CANCER June 22 - July 22
We've all been rattled by the recent economic crises, but it's security-minded Cancers who are stockpiling canned food, cookies, and designer hair products. Thank God for the sexy full moon on the 14th; it propels you out of your bunker and into a really big romance. One bit of advice; you may not want to share your hording obsession on the first date.
LEO July 23 - August 22
Don't apologize for wanting to hunker down at home in your jammies watching Little Britain and organizing your photo album. It's time well spent as the planets in your domestic 4th house stir up memories and heal old wounds. Next month, life speeds up, and it's back to center stage. Meanwhile, ignore those calls from your trainer, sponsor, and mother, and indulge your inner child.
VIRGO August 23 - September 22
Articulate Virgos can talk about everything except what's really going on inside, but it's time to drop that old shell game and reveal your true feelings. A relationship issue is brewing; face it now before it becomes a crisis. You have the perfect opportunity between the 10th and 14th. Then, once your ruler, Mercury, moves forward on the 15th you get an E-Z pass for the rest of the month.
