Vintage Items & Ikea Design Hacks Bring This Beachside Bungalow To Life

Do you ever dream of a beachside home full of perfect vintage pieces and sunshine? So do we, and so did Homepolish designer Vanessa de Vargas. When it was time for a change, Vanessa knew she wanted to focus on sophisticated comfort and a great layout for hosting friends. A house four blocks from the beach begs for simple vibes and comfortable decor.

Vanessa stuck to that credo while personalizing her space with metallic accents sprinkled around the bungalow. As a furniture designer and interiors master, she has the knack for properly utilizing spaces and items on a budget (often with custom pieces). Many of her purchases are actually sourced from vintage markets — she refurbished the zebra-print chairs herself! Those chairs, a comfy couch, gold highlights, well-hung art, and an all-white backdrop make this home the perfect place to lounge around after a day well spent on the Venice boardwalk.

Vanessa has been collecting old posters for years, and she finally put them to beautiful use in her beach house by framing them and hanging them up. It's got to be one of the coolest gallery walls we've seen.

Now, you might not think zebra when you think beach, but these chairs have such a cool and relaxed feel in spite of the base's formal structure. Vanessa refurbished them in stain-proof vinyl, a worthy project if you want to save money.
