The holidays — and their often epic parties — are over, but that's no reason to be sad. Here at Homepolish, we have a very long list of reasons to throw a fete. Your entertaining space — be it your living room, dining room, or your bed because you live in Manhattan and that's all you have — should be comfortable and presentable to whoever pops by to get out of the cold...because it is SO COLD.
We've been studying the science behind inviting spaces for years, and you know what says, "Come hang out!" more than anything? A full bar. Also, central heating. But, mostly the bar. We've compiled our favorite bar designs for your Pinterest-board frenzy. Check them out in the slideshow!

Get creative with your bar "cart." We love this repurposed ironing board! It adds a rustic element to the space and offers more surface area for mixing drinks than your traditional 2 x 3 cart.

When your frat-bro friends come over to drink cheap beer, you can close this bar to hide your fancy, carefully researched liquor and bitters collection. We all have alter egos.

Technically, this isn't a bar, but it's great design inspiration for the day you can fit 24 people in your dining room. Though, if you can feed this many people at once, you'd better have something much bigger than a bar cart.

Okay, back to reality! This is a good option for smaller spaces. If you have limited room for booze and glasses, make sure they look nice! No plastic handles, please.

Look at this cute thing! Scour your local flea markets for old bar carts and spruce them up with an unconventional color. This year's Pantone color is Marsala, FYI! Or, go for a cheery teal, like we did for one of New York mag's senior editors.

The ultimate OMG wow bar is in Kelly Oxford's living room. Copper stools from Blu Dot and a high-gloss countertop are showstopping elements that will enliven any get-together.

Don't be afraid to think outside the box with the small details, either. Decorate with weird vintage glasses, books, or even just tchotchkes. This is an unusual, steampunk-inspired bar cart from Restoration Hardware.

This is a classic take on the traditional bar cart. Look around your local flea market for some interesting glassware in different sizes, and pepper your cart with funny lil' things to keep it interesting. Vintage Uno cards, perhaps?

Pretty and brassy, this guy has room for lots of bottles of whatever you prefer. The gold-accented glasses (from Etsy) are a nice touch, too. Just like we always say, "Add some sparkle with accessories!" Right?
