Let's face it. No matter what, there are some people who are just hard to shop for — your astoundingly chic friend whose style you can only hope to emulate, your boss who seems to have everything, your anything-goes-but-not-really dad. And, the worst offenders might be creative folks, whose aesthetic can be tough to crack.

Who better to turn to for gifts with panache and uniqueness than the tastemakers themselves? Photographer Kimberly Geneviève, party planner and entrepreneur Saada Ahmed, and shutterbug Molly Steele know how it’s done. And, after seeing their picks and reading their advice, so will you.

What's your approach to gift giving?
    "Fun, quirky, and often useful."

What’s the best gift you’ve ever given?
"Four years ago, my entire family came to visit me in Los Angeles for the first time, and we took a group photo somewhere in the wine country. For Christmas, I gave my mom the framed shot of all of us, and she's kept it in her office since. She says that on cold days, she can still feel the warmth of the California sunshine."

    What about presentation?
"I change it up every year. Last year, I wrapped everything in amaranth pink and seafoam blue. The year before that, newspapers. This year, I might pull out pages from an old book. Or, maybe I'll make my own colorful wrapping paper. I like to keep it minimal. I don't love too many ribbons or fancy tags."

For the makeup addict who doesn't need more lipstick:
"A great gift will make the recipient smile as soon as she sees it and is something she'll use often. These colorful trays from Max & Moritz are perfect for my makeup-artist friend, who will get a kick out of bringing them with her to photo shoots. And, they're definitely a conversation starter on set."

For the shutterbug who checks Instagram every half hour:
"As a photographer, the best gift I can give anyone is a print. And, while I never strive to make people cry or go to mush during the holidays, photos seem to do that all the time. I fell in love with the Instax printer, which lets you print out Instagrams directly from your phone. I know my photographer friends are going to get a kick out of it."

    For the expert print mix-master:
"One of my close friends is a very popular fashion blogger in Los Angeles. She loves mixing and matching different patterns and colors, so this is the perfect gift for her."

For the guy who needs a little "me" time in public:
"The best gifts aren't only useful, they also have something extra that makes people smile or laugh as soon as they open them. These are my absolute favorite earbuds — all the color options! They're also noise-canceling, which is non-negotiable for plane rides. My cousin regularly travels from Australia to L.A. and watches a lot of movies and TV shows on his iPad, so he needs these for the 14-hour flights."
