Invented by the mix masters at 508 GastroBrewery, a cozy little nanobrewery in West Soho, The Humbug Cocktail is the ultimate spiked eggnog — creamy, a little minty, and subtly spicy — and oh yeah, it gets you tipsy, too. The secret ingredient in 508's version is its own delicious Mint Stout beer, but our DIY version will do the trick if you're stranded far from Soho this holiday season. Here's how to brew up a batch of pure holiday cheer.
3 parts eggnog
1 part vodka
1 part Bailey's
1 part stout beer
Sprig of mint for garnish (chocolate mint is especially delish)
In a shaker filled with ice, combine eggnog, vodka, and Bailey's. Shake to combine, then add stout and stir. Strain into a rocks glass and serve chilled, garnished with a sprig of mint, and a dash of cinnamon if desired.
Drink up, my little elves, and go from "bah, humbug" to buzzin' in no time flat. We'd tell you to save some for Santa, but we'd hate to see him crash that sleigh.
