Holiday Hater? This Hot Cocktail Will Make Your Season Much Brighter

1
Sure, turkey's terrific and figgy pudding's fabulous — but what really makes the season bright is the booze. The sweet nectar (that makes office parties enjoyable, and your family, well, almost bearable) is as much a part of the holidays as silver bells and Saint Nick. So, whether you're hanging stockings by the chimney with care, or a straight-up Scrooge, we scoured New York to bring you the most festive cocktail in town. Trust us, holiday revelers — this one packs a major punch.

Invented by the mix masters at
508 GastroBrewery
, a cozy little nanobrewery in West Soho, The Humbug Cocktail is the ultimate spiked eggnog — creamy, a little minty, and subtly spicy — and oh yeah, it gets you tipsy, too. The secret ingredient in 508's version is its own delicious Mint Stout beer, but our DIY version will do the trick if you're stranded far from Soho this holiday season. Here's how to brew up a batch of pure holiday cheer.

Ingredients:
3 parts eggnog
1 part vodka
1 part Bailey's
1 part stout beer
Sprig of mint for garnish (chocolate mint is especially delish)

In a shaker filled with ice, combine eggnog, vodka, and Bailey's. Shake to combine, then add stout and stir. Strain into a rocks glass and serve chilled, garnished with a sprig of mint, and a dash of cinnamon if desired.
Drink up, my little elves, and go from "bah, humbug" to buzzin' in no time flat. We'd tell you to save some for Santa, but we'd hate to see him crash that sleigh.
