An Exclusive Sneak Peek At The High Line Hotel

New York City creative-types have perfected the art of transforming old gems into even better treasures. From champagne bottles as place cards to meat factories as luxury retail stores, the Big Apple's best talent knows how to take something seemingly obsolete and turn it into something relevant and beautiful.
Case in point, the upcoming High Line Hotel. Originally built in 1895 as student housing for The General Theological Seminary, the hotel, scheduled to soft-open next month, features 60 rooms, a view of the High Line park, and an enclosed private-garden oasis. Blending eclectic Americana with the building's Gothic roots, the interiors will complement vintage furniture and unexpected artwork with wireless check-in services – via iPad! – and Chicago-based Intelligentsia Coffee's first East Coast outpost.
The hotel has given R29 an exclusive look at their first sketches — and exceeded our expectations. Details include large ornate mirrors, a deer-head bust, and one-of-a-kind decor. Can we make a reservation already? (Surprise! The answer is yes!)
