Runway-Model Hair That You Can Do

Photographed by Rockie Nolan.
Just because the hairstyles we saw at Fashion Week back in September are meant for spring 2015, doesn't mean that we can't start wearing them now. Especially when they look as effortless as this knotted style seen on the runways. It's as if you put your hair in a messy ponytail, slept in it, and then walked out the door with the elastic dangling at the ends of your hair. But, of course, looking so artfully undone requires some finesse.
The twist-tie style can be reiterated in multiple variations, with ponytails, Pollyannas (that's half up, half down), and with or without an elastic. Here, Anna MacLellan went for an elastic-free knot. To do this yourself, spritz your hair with a texturizing spray for some grit, and then pull out a two-inch section of hair from behind each ear. Tie the sections of hair into a knot as you would with your shoelaces, and repeat for a double knot. Then, pin it down with a bobby pin that matches your hair color. Finish with a spritz of strong-hold hairspray to secure everything in place. And, don't worry if the knot starts getting loose — you want it to look "undone" after all.
