Ilaria Urbinati Is Still Mad About Those Jeans Her Mom Wouldn’t Buy Her

ILARIA_URBINATI-600x900
Believe it or not, it’s been 30 years — an entire generation — since GUESS’ original, three-zip Marilyn jean put their mark on fashion forever. To celebrate, the brand is going back to its roots with a new campaign featuring the star of its classic ads, Claudia Schiffer, and releasing a limited-edition line of updates on their iconic pieces. To join in the festivities, we snapped 30 of our favorite fashionable friends wearing the vintage-inspired 30th anniversary collection and asked them what GUESS means to them. Thirty women, 30 days, 30 sexy years of GUESS.

Favorite ‘80s memory: "I was pretty little... So, um, moving to the United States from Paris?"

Favorite GUESS memory: "I'm obsessed with all the old GUESS ads — they’ve long been inspiration for me. I reference them every chance I get, particularly the Drew Barrymore ones. On my favorite TV show, Beverly Hills 90210, Brenda and Kelly always wore GUESS jeans. I needed a pair, but my mother wouldn't buy them for me."
Favorite returning ‘80s fashion trend: "I love the butt on the old GUESS jeans. The pockets are nice and high and in the middle, so it makes everyone's bums look perfect — so, I'm really hoping that trend comes back. I really don't get it when jeans have pockets really low and to the side. Who wants saggy bum jeans???”
