We also managed to score a few quick minutes with Blake to talk fashion, beauty, and Gossip Girl. Here's what she had to say:
What's your beauty routine and what products do you really just love?
"I don't really have much of a beauty routine because I work so much — I'm just showing up to work and having them make me look nice. So, I have a really unfair advantage. But it's always good to have good skin, so I love La Mer. I know it's a splurge, but La Mer is a big one for me."
When did you first meet Frida?
"I met her at a charity event, a UNICEF event that Gucci was throwing, and I just thought she was so cool because she's such a creative, inspiring woman, and then you meet her and she's just so easy and quiet and reserved and very comfortable in her own skin. And you know she has the world on her shoulders. I mean, she does so many collections a year, and she's so involved in every detail. This fragrance, this is the beauty side of the Gucci world, and she didn't have to be involved but she was in every single thing. And I just met her at this event and I thought, 'You're a neat lady, I'm inspired by you.'"
We've heard you say you love to cook and are a big eater, so how do you keep that amazing body? Please don't tell us you are one of those girls who don't work out.
"Um…I'm 25. I'm lucky. Ask me in five years and I'm going to have a full routine — the cellulite creams, everything. I went to the gym last month and I honestly can't remember a time before that. Maybe a year before that? I mean I did a movie where I had to do stunts, so I worked out for that, and I felt better than I've ever felt. Just like, my stomach never hurt. I never had stomachaches because I wasn't eating…this [motions to bag of chocolates hidden beneath her couch pillow] all the time. I was still eating that, but when you work out, you don't eat as poorly because it actually makes you feel nauseous right away, so it was the best I'd ever felt, and I wish I did that more but I also work, you know I'm on a TV show that's 10 months out of the year, five days a week, and we work 15 to 18 hour days. I'm going to work from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day so that's just not gonna happen. I'm not doing planks in between scenes."
You've had the chance to work with some of the biggest names in fashion — Eric Damian, Karl Lagerfeld, Anna Wintour, and now Frida Giannini. How have they influenced your personal style?
"Just being on Gossip Girl, we were exposed to the best of the best designers. And then through that, we were exposed to the clothes because they would buy them from Barneys or whatever, and then through that, it grabs the attention of people in the fashion world, so through that, I met Anna Wintour, who then introduces me to the fashion icons of the world. And then, you go to the Met Ball and you sit next to these people, and it's like the best education you could possibly have. It's like taking a Masters course — you know if Harvard had a masters course from every best lawyer ever to live, and you went to that law school for the past six years...that's what it would be like. And to just sit with these people and just talk to them and hear them speak about what inspires them, and you can ask them anything you want. And then, to do fittings all the time and understand the structure and the art of it all…it was life-changing."
You recently celebrated your 25th birthday — that's a big milestone. How do you see your life changing as you are getting older?
"The biggest thing isn't that I'm turning 25, but it's that Gossip Girl, after six years, is now done. So, I went from my parents' house to moving to New York City, and my entire adult life has been on that show. And I went from going to school where it's 10 months out of the year to a show where it's 10 months out of the year. And so, I've never had an autumn where I don't know what I'm doing. So, it feels like a world of possibility. It must be how people feel when they graduate from college. Gossip Girl was my college, and now it's like 'Real world. Now what?'"
