On the two-year anniversary of the catastrophic 7.0 magnitude earthquake in Haiti, something positive is rising from the rubble: Global Caribbean III: Haiti Kingdom of This World.
After debuting in France and then showing at the Venice Biennale, the traveling exhibition of contemporary pieces by Haitian artists is showing at Miami's Little Haiti Cultural Center through March. There are photographs, sculptures, and paintings as well as video and live art, but the parts of the exhibit that left us most in awe were the pieces created out of metal, nails, marbles, and other debris from the disaster.

The goal, according to the exhibit’s curator, Giscard Bouchotte, is to “put forward another face of Haiti as seen through the eyes of its artists.” We think Haiti Kingdom of This World is a sentimental but spectacular way to do just that.
