Givenchy Will Stop Putting On Couture Shows, Will Show No Black

Don't panic! Even though Riccardo Tisci announced that he's going to stop putting on runway shows for Givenchy couture, don't think that this is the death of Tisci's extremely opulent, no-bounds designs: "I want to make couture even more special than it is, and not just another catwalk show," said Tisci. He plans to only invite clients and editors to attend individual viewings involving 10 distilled looks, live models, mannequins, and artistic lookbooks starting in July, to really make the couture experience intimate. And this isn't a cost-saving venture either—these individual appointments will cost Tisci 35% more than hosting a runway show. Also, as a personal challenge, Tisci is using no black for the first time, but his trademark lavish accessorizing will still play a large role. All these moves are a smart move—after all, most of the couture clients cannot attend runway shows for security reasons, and the beauty of couture construction lies in details that can't really be caught from a quick catwalk pass. We accept the change, Tisci—as long as we get to see photos, too! (WWD)
