We heard about Gigee Marie through word of mouth, so it sounds like your marketing strategy is working — tell us your secrets.
"My background is in marketing and communications, so I focus a lot of time in that area. I try to be very strategic when it comes to events, social media, and public relations efforts. I do a lot of research — on current trends, bloggers, media outlets and publications, and events that I think align with the Gigee Marie brand. Just through experience, a lot of my sales have come from in-person events, where people are able to see and feel the bags. And, obviously, through word of mouth — friends telling friends [is how] many customers find me. I think of my website as a supplement.

I also consider [where] the brand fits – [I'll] see a similar clutch in H&M and American Apparel, [and] I think about why a customer would buy mine instead. [My customers] appreciate the handmade aspect of the bags, and look for something one of a kind and unique. I only make a couple bags in each style, and my customers know that."
