General Idea Ranks High With Unconvential Men's Looks

In a minimalist setting a mere block from the Intrepid along the West Side Highway, the focus was on Korean menswear label General Idea's topsy-turvied masculine basics. The palette never veered from black, charcoal, and gray—so it was construction and attention to provocative details that brought real punch to the pieces. Pseudo sweater dresses with long sleeves that descended well past the hands, flashy silver jackets, fur collars, and blazers with winged shoulders imbued pieces with an avant-garde edge—sometimes to cool effect, sometimes a little ridiculous. The more conventional, stylishly wearable pieces borrowed from Russian military influences, ski-bum attire and the elevator-boy looks—which, come to think of it, weren't all that conventional at all.
