We don't claim to be culinary overachievers or anything like that, but we do know that to make a dish the total package, you need to balance both science and art. Ask any pro in the kitchen and they will tell you that mastering the innovative craft of science-inspired cooking is an ever-evolving (and really cool!) process. And if you’re interested in learning more about the mysterious world of molecular gastronomy — a huge S.F. food trend with star chefs Dominique Crenn and the like — then listen up.
The Exploratorium invites you to gather ‘round for its much-beloved Thursday After-Dark event, to get schooled on the ins and outs of modern culinary practices. Modernist Cuisine's Maxime Bilet and Anjana Shanker, along with Seattle Food Geek's Scott Heimendinger will be on-site preforming a must-see food demo. Here, you’ll learn crazy things like the cultural history of the orange and how to infuse exciting ingredients to maximize taste and texture. Sound like something you’re into? We'll catch you there.

When: Thursday, April 5, 6 to 10 p.m.

Where: Exploratorium, 3601 Lyon St (at Jefferson Street); 415-561-0356.
