Google Gives NYC Tons Of Free Wi-fi (Based In Google’s Neighborhood)

Imagining a world without Google is nearly impossible, and yet, leave it to the jumbo company to make their presence even more well known in NYC. The Cheslea-based office has just announced that they will provide FREE (you read that right!) Wi-fi to the entire area. As the chief information officer explains, "This network will not only be a resource for the two thousand-plus residents of the Fulton Houses, it will also serve the five thousand-plus student population of Chelsea as well as the hundreds of workers, retail customers, and tourists who visit our neighborhood every day."
While this kind of community-driven thought warms our wireless hearts, we can't help but wonder if it's not just a twisted way of making sure all Google employees are, without a doubt, well connected when out of the office. In any case, anything with a $0.00 price tag is okay in our (Mac)Book. (Mashable)
