How did Freda Salvador come to be?
Megan: "We started working on the label in July of 2011. We wanted a strong, feminine name that embodies a persona that our customer can relate to. We had a common adoration for Frida Kahlo, so Freda was an easy choice. Salvador is a tribute to Cristina’s heritage of her birth country of El Salvador, which is also where our shoes are produced. Cristina’s grandfather started manufacturing shoes over 55 years ago. Her father has taken over the business, so it is an honor and privilege to say that our shoes are made with love in a family factory."
A vintage sewing machine is just one of the antiques strewn about the studio.
