Between the time commitment, endless Pinterest tutorials, and unforeseen expenses (non-flat-pack side tables cost how much?), taking on a home makeover can feel pretty daunting. We suspect that's why so many of us live in apartments that look as if we moved in last weekend, not last year. But, as anyone who's been staring at somebody else's left-behind sponge-painted walls for all too long knows, revamping your pad is worth it — so long as you choose projects that won't require a redo in six months' time.
To prove it, we showed up, cans of high-quality Benjamin Moore
paint in hand, at the Brooklyn apartment of Albie Hueston, R29's senior director of experiential strategy, and his boyfriend, Kevin Breen. Once there, we got to work on four interior updates, chosen for their mix of trendiness and lasting power. Come join us for a tour of the luxe redo, cop some serious inspiration, and kiss your apartment's former occupant's bad taste goodbye.
