Upper East Side
Luke’s Lobster
Conjure up memories of the warmer months with the freshest, tastiest lobster rolls in the city. If you’re between 72nd and 92nd streets, call after 5 p.m. for one of these mighty rolls, a bag of chips, and a beer ($20). $20 minimum.
Luke’s Lobster, 242 E. 81st Street (between 2nd and 3rd avenues); 212-249-4241.
Bagel Express
Sometimes a good bagel is all we need to start our day off on the right foot. If you feel the same way, it doesn’t get better than the fluffy, hand-rolled bagels from Bagel Express. They’re baked on the premises, and served warm. The deli pretty much has the UES covered with the two uptown locations, and the dirt-cheap delivery minimum of $5 is hard to beat.
Bagel Express, 1228 2nd Avenue (between 64th and 65th streets); 212-879-3960; 1804 2nd Avenue (between 93rd and 94th streets); 212-426-5577.
Bella Blu
The Upper East Side isn’t exactly rife with good pizza, which is why we like to class it up with the pies from quaint Italian resto Bella Blu. While you might pay a tad more for a pizza here ($18-$23) than you would at delivery-joint Mariella down the street, the thin crusts and travel durability make them well worth the extra bucks. Must-try pie: Quattro Formaggi (a mélange of fontina, gorgonzola, mozzarella, and provolone cheeses). Pasta and salad options are also available. $20 minimum.
Bella Blu, 967 Lexington (between 70th and 71st streets); 212-988-4624.
Mxco.
Finding nachos that are delicious after being biked through teen temperatures isn’t easy, but this divey Mexican haunt does a surprisingly good job delivering this cheese-and-chip dish to ravenous (and lazy) Upper East Siders for lunch and dinner. The nachos are smothered in generous amounts of goodies like guacamole, black beans, and herb-pickled jalapenos. The quesadillas and burritos are other menu favorites. $10 minimum.
Mxco., 1491 2nd Avenue (at 78th Street); 212-249-6080.
Jackson Hole
Jackson Hole diner is known for its delicious super-sized burgers, but we usually go with a stack of fluffy Banana Pancakes (they deliver breakfast all day). $5 minimum.
Jackson Hole, 1270 Madison Avenue (at 91st Street); 212-427-2820.
