Best Flea-Market Find, Ever: A Lost Renoir Painting For…$7

As avid thrifters and flea market-sifters, we're always on the hunt for a great score. But a "great score" in our book used to mean a vintage designer find at a reasonable price — not a $100,000 return on a $7 investment. A local woman is experiencing just that kind of luck after a box of knick-knacks she bought at a West Virginia flea market turned out to contain a lost Renoir — a painting that is expected to garner $100K at auction. Even crazier? She was poised to cut the canvas out of the frame (she liked the gilded frame more than the actual painting) when her mom realized this was no ordinary oil painting. The lucky owner is now selling the painting through Alexandria's Potomack Co. auction company — but she's keeping the plastic cow souvenir that originally caught her eye. (Washington Post)
