Six Fashion Prodigies (16 And Under!) Prove Style Smarts Start Early

We'll level with you: In the seventh grade most of us were more pre-occupied with our cafeteria coordinates than Karl Lagerfeld. Needless to say, we weren't trying to fit in Rodarte shows between free periods or waxing poetic on Balmain. While that was, well, a while ago, today is totally different ball game. Whether they're burgeoning editrixes, recently ordained cover-girls, or blossoming youtube stars, there's no denying these five kids—all under 16—are way ahead of their time.
Tavi Gevinson—13
When pondering blogging prodigies how can you not think of Tavi Gevinson? She's a favorite of the designing sisters of Rodarte and shares words with industry greats that make us weak in the knees. Aside from her style musings, she curated custom gift packages for her followers...quite the feat for a clever 13-year-old. Follow Tavi's anything-goes adventures at tulletulle.tumblr.com and tavi-thenewgirlintown.blogspot.com.

What? You weren't a fixture of Paris fashion when you were 16? No need to worry, blogger/Fashion Week fixture/future designer Charles Guislain was and most likely will be for the rest of his life. A young andrdogynous boy with an uncanny ability to walk in booties, Guislain gives Bryanboy a run for the money in the wardrobe department. The Margiela-cloaked teen has aspirations to be a designer and attend Central Saint Martins when he's older. We have no doubt we'll be seeing him on runways, draped in Balmain for years to come. Until then, though, we'll have to make do with his eloquent Youtube clips.

Noa Leijdesdorff—14, Lev—14
Lord knows we never imagined taking style advice from children, but it's pretty clear that Noa Leijdesdorff and Lev of Brains and Beauty have a knack for fashion. The team describes their blog as "for students by students" and gives their audience a place to study fashion and style in one obscenely well-dressed package. Noa is the acting editor-in-chief while Lev (the red-head) is the blog's lensman—big jobs for little people who have the style knowledge to school even us sometimes.

Kristin Prim—16
And to think we just dreamed out editor-in-chiefdom by the ripe old age of 30! Fortunately for the lovely Kristin Prim, she's already arrived. At 16, she pieces together Prim Magazine, chock-full of mind-boggling editorials and interviews with everyone from Jeremy Scott to Robert Geller. We're not the only ones who think so either...just ask one of her 130,000 readers. We sure wish we had someone like her to sit next to at lunch.

Jonathan Wolpert—16
Remember all those photos you took at the class picnic in eighth grade? Peace signs and smiles galore, right? Well, Jonathan Wolpert, a 16-year-old editorial photographer has way more advanced ideas on the brain. Fair warning, starting to look at the prodigy's Flickr account will reduce your daily productivity by tenfold.
